Accessory Description
The Nintendo Game Boy 4-Player Adapter [DMG-07] is an official OEM multiplayer expansion accessory released by Nintendo in 1990 for the original Game Boy. Designed as a hub-style multitap device, the DMG-07 connects through the handheld’s link port and allows up to four compatible Game Boy systems to participate in multiplayer sessions for supported games. Instead of a single cable connection, the adapter acts as the central link point while additional players connect using standard Game Boy Game Link Cables (Model DMG-04). This setup made it possible to expand beyond the normal two-player link cable gameplay that defined most early Game Boy titles.
The adapter includes a built-in cable for the primary Game Boy system and provides ports for additional link cables so multiple handhelds can join the same session. While only a small number of Game Boy games were designed to take advantage of the four-player setup, those that did turned Nintendo’s monochrome handheld into a surprisingly social gaming platform. Racing competitions, puzzle battles, and head-to-head multiplayer sessions became possible across multiple systems, making the DMG-07 one of the more unique accessories released during the early Game Boy era.
