Game Description
Game, set, match — Mario style! Mario Tennis brings the Mushroom Kingdom's biggest personalities onto the court for a fast-paced sports showdown packed with spectacular rallies, outrageous rivalries, and championship excitement. Take control of Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, and a colorful cast of Nintendo favorites as they battle for tennis supremacy. Whether you're smashing a blistering winner down the sideline or scrambling to return a perfectly placed lob, every point delivers another burst of competitive fun. With responsive controls, character-specific playing styles, and lively arcade action, Camelot serves up an unforgettable Nintendo 64 tennis experience!
There's more to winning than simply swinging your racket! Master topspin, slices, lobs, drop shots, and powerful smashes while learning each character's strengths on the court. Challenge increasingly skilled opponents in Tournament mode, test your precision by sending shots through suspended rings, or survive the relentless ball-launching attacks of Piranha Plants. For something completely different, step onto Bowser Stage, where a tilting court and troublesome items turn ordinary rallies into unpredictable battles. With singles and doubles competition, unlockable characters, and clever challenges, this arcade-style sports game rewards sharp reflexes, smart positioning, and a little Mushroom Kingdom mischief.
Nothing beats the excitement of a heated match against friends! Gather up to four players for competitive doubles, challenge rivals in Exhibition matches, and discover which Nintendo superstar truly rules the court. Unlock new competitors, pursue championship victories, and experiment with different character types to perfect your playing style. Developed by Camelot Software Planning and published by Nintendo in 2000, this physical cartridge release also offers optional connectivity with the Game Boy Color version through the Nintendo 64 Transfer Pak. For collectors seeking a Mario Tennis Nintendo 64 sports game, it's a multiplayer favorite overflowing with charm, competition, and classic Nintendo personality!

Historical Trivia or Fun Fact
Mario Tennis arrived in North America in August 2000, following Camelot Software Planning's successful Mario Golf and helping establish Nintendo's modern Mario sports lineup. The game is especially notable for introducing Waluigi, Luigi's mischievous rival, who made his video game debut as Wario's doubles partner before becoming a familiar face throughout the Mario franchise. It also brought characters such as Daisy and Birdo back into the spotlight, expanding the cast beyond the usual Mushroom Kingdom regulars. With Motoi Sakuraba's energetic soundtrack, intuitive tennis mechanics, and Game Boy Color connectivity, this Nintendo 64 favorite helped set the standard for future Mario Tennis adventures.
