Game Description

Sega Marine Fishing takes everything that made Sega Bass Fishing a cult hit and cranks it up with brighter visuals, exotic saltwater locations, and a bigger lineup of deep-sea targets. From battling marlins and tuna in open waters to snagging tarpon near coral reefs, the game offers fast-paced, arcade-style action that’s easy to pick up and surprisingly satisfying to master. Vivid underwater environments, colorful UI, and wild combo scoring keep the energy high from cast to catch.

You can play with a standard Dreamcast controller, or for the full reel-’em-in experience, use the Dreamcast fishing controller (sold separately). With motion-based casting and tension-sensitive reeling, the fishing rod peripheral turns every battle into a tug-of-war you can feel in your hands. Whether you’re going solo in Tournament Mode or hunting trophies in Free Fishing, Sega Marine Fishing is one of the most purely enjoyable arcade ports on the Dreamcast.

Gameplay Features

  • Fast-paced saltwater fishing action with a bright, arcade-style presentation
  • Fish for marlin, tuna, mahi-mahi, tarpon, and more across exotic ocean locations
  • Compatible with both the standard Dreamcast controller and the fishing rod controller (sold separately)
  • Unlock gear, aquarium extras, and challenge rewards with high combo scores
  • Multiple modes including Free Fishing, Tournament, and Challenge Mode

Historical Trivia or Fun Fact

Sega Marine Fishing was developed as a follow-up to Sega Bass Fishing and ran on the same NAOMI arcade hardware. While it was never quite as heavily promoted in the U.S., it quickly became a fan favorite for its colorful style, faster pace, and expanded variety of fish and environments. The game's unlockable extras, like a full fish tank aquarium you can customize, added surprising depth to what’s otherwise pure pick-up-and-play fun.

As an oddball sidebar not specific to this game, the Dreamcast fishing controller (sold separately) hilariously functions in other unrelated games. Dreamcast fans have used the rod to play through SoulCalibur, Virtua Tennis, and Crazy Taxi, making it one of the most entertaining and bizarre peripherals in Sega’s history. If you’re a collector or just love offbeat Dreamcast oddities, Sega Marine Fishing is a fantastic title that will have you hooked!
