Game Description
.hack//INFECTION plunges you into a meta-RPG world on the PlayStation 2, where the lines between reality and virtuality blur. You play as Kite, a newcomer invited to explore The World, a fictional MMORPG filled with hidden threats and coded anomalies. When Kite’s friend Orca falls into a coma after an encounter with a mysterious “Data Bug,” the journey transforms into a gripping quest to uncover the truth behind a corrupting virus.
Inside the game, every email, in-game message, and bulletin board (BBS) entry fuels your investigation—this is not just a straightforward dungeon crawl. The unique mechanic of Data Drain lets Kite hack corrupted creatures mid-battle to reclaim broken code and reshape his surroundings. With environmental puzzles, BBS mysteries, and layered dialogue, the gameplay feels like you’re playing both the RPG and the experience of being inside an MMORPG all at once.
