Historical Trivia or Fun Fact
Donkey Kong 64 launched in North America in November 1999, marking Donkey Kong's first major fully 3D platforming adventure after Rare's hugely successful Donkey Kong Country trilogy. The game became the first Nintendo 64 title to require the Expansion Pak, and Nintendo bundled the memory upgrade with the original retail release to ensure players had the necessary hardware. Its unforgettable DK Rap, composed by Grant Kirkhope with lyrics by game director George Andreas, introduced the five playable Kongs in one of the era's most recognizable opening sequences. Rare also packed the adventure with nostalgic surprises, including the original 1981 Donkey Kong arcade game and its own 1983 classic Jetpac, creating a memorable connection between arcade history and Nintendo's 3D gaming era.
