Before Bravely Default became its own fantasy adventure, Square Enix producer Tomoya Asano originally envisioned the project as a sequel to Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light, which helps explain its familiar crystals, character jobs, and classic RPG spirit. Developer Silicon Studio even experimented with real-time action combat before settling on the distinctive turn-based Brave and Default system.
